The new Qantas Singapore First lounge is due to open by the end of 2019.
Qantas has announced plans to build a new First Lounge at Singapore's Changi, its fourth dedicated First Lounge offering in the world, and its second outside of Australia, after Sydney, Melbourne and Los Angeles.
The multi-million dollar Singapore lounge investment, with development expected to start April 2019 and completed by end of 2019, will also include the expansion of the airline's existing Business Lounge at Changi Airport which opened in 2013.
Qantas' new Singapore First Lounge will have the capacity to hold 240 passengers, and will feature luxuriously designed interiors and a la carte dining with Asian-inspired menus.The airline is continuing its partnerships with chef Neil Perry and industrial designer David Caon, in collaboration with Akin Atelier, who will work on the lounge's design that will cater to a high volume of transiting passengers.
The First Lounge will feature a mix of local and international design inspiration and offer shower facilities, a cocktail bar; open kitchen and menu offerings that reflect Singapore's dynamic and diverse culinary culture.
The expanded Business Lounge will be able to cater to more than 500 passengers and a total of over 800 passengers in both first and business lounges. Qantas CEO Alan Joyce said the investment will see the airline's lounge capacity in Singapore increase by 60 per cent and will cater for the increased number of passengers travelling through Changi Airport since it move it A380 service to Singapore.
Singapore is Qantas' largest hub outside of Australia, with airline operating 50 return services to and from Changi Airport each week.
