When can we start travelling around Australia and Internationally?

As we know, COVID has had a crippling impact on the travel and tourism industry. We are all seeking for our domestic borders to open again as I am sure we are all itching to get out and about and see our society back to some form of normality. To give you an indication on when each state will reopen, Luxury Travel Planner has researched official websites to obtain this information.

Right now, the only three states with no border restrictions are NSW, VIC, and ACT.

According to the QLD government, they will continue with their border control measures which have been in place for some time now. Subject to further planning and review, interstate travel will be permitted however, these measures will be reviewed for stage 3 of the roadmap to recovery on 10 July.

From 20 July, South Australia will reopen its borders. People who arrive from interstate will not need to self-isolate for 14 days.

Northern Territory is easing its restrictions on domestic travel, instead of a mandatory 14-day monitored quarantine, on 15 June, this will ease to mandatory 14-day self-quarantine. We have no information on when non-essential travel will resume.

All travellers who enter Tasmania are required to quarantine for 14 days. Tasmania will continue to keep their borders closed, including stage three which begins on 26 June. We have no further information on when non-essential travel will resume.

Western Australia also continues to keep their borders closed with no current fixed date for the removal for the hard border.

As for international travel, our borders will remain closed with no fixed dates on when they will reopen. Each state will make their decision based on the Chief Health Officer’s advice.

This does not mean we cannot start planning or thinking about where to go next. We are very fortunate to live in such a beautiful country. Luxury Travel Planner advises to book for domestic travel from September onward. We also advise to consider looking at more flexible options when booking in the event our border closures are extended. Luxury Travel Planner can help with explaining all terms and conditions on new bookings moving forward.
